Choosing The Right Rug Size

Choosing the right rug can be one of the most important interior design choices you make. It can instantly pull together the various colours within your bedroom and really finish the room off nicely.

But an important consideration alongside what lovely design you decide on, is what size rug to pick. This comes down to the size of your room of course, but also where you’d like your new rug to be placed. For big bedrooms where you’d like the rug to take up a large space, we suggest going for a rug size of 160x230cm or 200x300cm.

But if it’s a small bedroom rug that you’re after, we suggest going for a rug size of 60x100cm up to 80x150cm and perhaps placing a couple of rugs either side of your bed to give your toes a nice and cosy welcome on a morning. Just remember to also consider our anti-slip underlay to ensure there’s no nasty surprises when you’re getting out of bed!

How To Place A Bedroom Rug

So you’ve decided that you want a rug in your bedroom, but you’re unsure exactly where to place it? The great thing about rugs is their versatility, however this does provide you with a decision to make when it comes to its placement.

Of course, where you place the rug will depend on its size as well, but the most common places for a rug to be placed in the bedroom are underneath the bed, at the foot of your bed or at either side of it. However smaller rugs can really accentuate bedroom furniture when placed underneath them too.

So whilst there’s lots to consider when it comes to your rug placement, you can’t really go wrong wherever it is, we’re sure it’s going to look fabulous either way.

How To Wash A Bedroom Rug

When it comes to washing a bedroom rug, the technique all depends on its material. For example, here at Hug at Home, we have a range of machine washable rugs that are super easy to clean. Just pop them in the washing machine at 30ºC and they’ll come out looking as good as new in no time.

However some of our rugs aren’t machine washable and as such require different cleaning techniques. We’ve put together a number of helpful cleaning guides for each of our rug ranges, so be sure to take a look if you’re concerned about keeping your rug clean.
